Adult because we never grow too old to learn and think.

Forum because we wrestle together with questions of faith and life in an open forum, discussing, asking questions and providing (often tentative) answers, and interacting with one another.

September Programs

September 13. Our Adult Forum kicks off with a presentation on Life in Kajo Kejo. Trip Trepagnier, the chairperson of the World Mission Committee will show pictures and talk about his mission trip in February to our companion diocese of Kajo Keji, Sudan.  As we approach the second anniversary of the New Hope Campaign, he will also share current information about the New Hope projects.  Trip is a member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, and the husband of our office manager, Jo Trepagnier.

September 20-October 4. Living Faithfully in Economic Stress. This series will explore how we as a community, as a church, and as individuals can live faithfully and support one another in an economic downturn like we have today.

September 20. Allentown in Tough Times. Allentown’s preeminent historian, Frank Whelan, will give us the historical perspective by looking at Allentown during the Great Depression and in times of economic hardship since then.  Frank is the former historian for The Morning Call, and his most recent book is on Hess’ Department Store.

September 27. What Can We Do as a Church?  Part 1 - In the mid 1990s changing economic conditions hit PP&L and a number of our parishioners were given early retirement packages.  In the early 2000s Agere began its first round of layoffs.  A panel of parishioners who were affected by these events will share their experiences and how the church was or was not there for them.

October 4. What Can We Do as a Church?  Part 2 – The current economic downturn has affected all of us in different ways.  We will discuss together, with people who have been laid off, some who have found jobs and some who are still looking, how we can support one another and the people beyond our parish who are hurting in these hard times.

Looking Ahead: Our First Fruits and Last Gifts endowment growth committee will do two weeks on October 11 and 18.  “Preparing for Death: The Big Questions” and “Preparing for Death: A Practical Guide.”
